Melissa Bond, MNAA, Melissa Bond Quality Education
Melissa Bond is a Certified Residential Appraiser licensed in Mississippi and Louisiana. Since 1994, she has been the sole proprietor of her real property appraisal practice which includes: fee appraising for VA, FHA, USDA, Fannie Mae, title companies, attorneys, school districts, and the general public. She is also a Continuing Education Provider in multiple states, has served as a contract reviewer for state investigations, a subject matter expert for licensing jurisdictions, serves on the board of directors for the National Association of Appraisers, served on the board of directors for the Appraisal Standards Board, board of directors for the Mississippi Coalition of Appraisers as well as a plethora of committees and association chair positions.
As a Continuing Education Provider and course author, she has personally developed over 40+ continuing education courses for real property appraisers, tax assessors, lenders, underwriters, REALTORS, Home Builders, licensing boards, etc. She has developed, coordinated, and presented course studies that align with current and prospective valuation issues. Through training opportunities, Melissa has been highly successful in opening and maintaining lines of communication between valuation stakeholders and the practicing appraisers.
In 2021, Melissa developed and implemented the first-in-the-nation appraiser training practicum for aspiring appraisers – MPAT. MPAT is a successful aspiring appraiser experience/education module that is far superior to the supervisor/trainee pathway to licensing. She is currently working with other licensing jurisdictions for duplication in other states.
Craig Capilla, Franklin, Greenswag, Channon & Capilla
Craig Capilla is a trial lawyer with Franklin, Greenswag, Channon & Capilla, LLC, concentrating his practice in a wide range of civil litigation, including professional liability and commercial claims. He has successfully defended residential and commercial appraisers, appraisal firms, and appraisal management companies accused of negligence or improper activity in their valuation services. Craig has also represented numerous licensed professionals in state licensing matters including real estate brokers, real estate appraisers, appraisal management companies, mortgage loan originators and brokers, and others. He has represented clients in both state and federal lawsuits as well as licensing matters in a number of states including Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Maryland, Idaho, Michigan, Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Tennessee, Delaware, and California. Stacy Caprioli, MNAA, Walitt Solutions
Stacy Caprioli has been a dedicated member of the appraisal profession for the last 18 years with a comprehensive depth of experience. Stacy began her career performing mass appraisal and public sector commercial inspection work which often mirrors the goals of the modernization efforts in place today. This role further provided a passion for strength in training, advanced education, and diversification of the profession. As a Certified Residential Appraiser, Stacy has made an impact on diverse roles in repurchase demands, quality control, compliance, and modernization. Her emphasis continues to be on the equity of access to the appraisal profession. Her goals are in aiding development of compliant expansion of access to diverse methods of learning. Stacy has been recognized with awards for the Elite Woman and Mortgage Star in 2023. Stacy was also highlighted with the esteemed first offering of the SAVVY award from The Appraisal Foundation honoring women in valuation as well as personal/professional volunteerism.
Hansel Dobbs, MNAA, Aloft Appraisal
Hansel Dobbs, a second-generation Texas real estate appraiser, currently serves as the Chief Appraiser and Head of Valuations for Aloft, Inc. He is a subject matter expert on Appraiser Toolkit, working closely with Heather Sullivan. Hansel began his appraisal career in Abilene, TX, under John Fanning before joining his father's firm in Rockwall, TX, where he became a certified real estate appraiser in 2004. He is an active member of the National Association of Appraisers, serving on the trainee and communication committees, and played a key role in developing the new ATA website. Hansel lives in Allen, TX, with his wife, Laura, and their three sons, Carson, Owen, and Nathan.
Malinda Griffin, MNAA, Malinda Griffin & Co.
Malinda founded Malinda Griffin & Co in 1990 in the Upstate of South Carolina, working as a Certified Residential Appraiser and Real Estate Abstractor. Clients include lending institutions, appraisal management companies, attorneys, accountants, and private work. In 2018, Malinda expanded her scope to offer South Carolina Appraiser and Realtor Continuing Education. Malinda served as President of SCPAC in 2020 and continues to serve as the SCPAC Education Committee Chair and Coalition Manager. Malinda was elected to the NAA Board of Directors in 2021 and elected as the President in 2024. Malinda continues to serve on many of the NAA Committees. Malinda is also the 2023 TAFAC delegate for NAA and ATA. Malinda's passion for the Appraisal profession shines as she does her part to assist fellow peers stay up to date on the profession/industry through education and industry information. Malinda currently has two Appraiser Trainees working under her license and is a Supervisor/Mentor with Oscar Mike University Trainee Program. Malinda often moderates/shares in the Real Estate Appraisal Talk rooms on Clubhouse.
Malinda is a member of the National Association of Appraisers (MNAA) and holds the HMS (Home Measurement Specialist) and Appraisal Review Certifications. She is also licensed in South Carolina as a Continuing Education Instructor for appraisers and realtors.
Hal Humphreys, MNAA, Appraiser eLearning
Hal Humphreys is a real estate appraiser with 30+ years in the business. He's served as an expert witness in civil and criminal cases and as a contract investigator for the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance. Hal is co-founder and partner of Appraiser eLearning and its sister company, PI Education. He’s also a private investigator and an occasional journalist whose work has appeared in Fast Company and on NPR.
Hal is also the current Treasurer for the NAA.
Steve Kahane, MNAA, Greater Houston Area Appraisals
Steve is a certified residential appraiser in Cypress, TX. After moving from Chicago to Texas 20 years ago, he transitioned from commercial to residential appraising and has valued properties ranging from $1 to over $100 million. He is a member of the National Association of Appraisers and Association of Texas Appraisers (ATA) and was the recipient of ATA’s 2015 Outstanding Service Award for the Houston region. He is also the current president of ATA.
He has advocated on appraiser’s behalf to the Appraisal Foundation, Appraiser Qualifications Board and Texas Appraisal Licensing and Certification Board. He has presented seminars to hundreds of Houston Realtors® about appraising real estate and authored numerous articles about appraising for trade publications.
Jeff Morley, MNAA, Accurity Consolidated
Jeff Morley is a Certified General Appraiser in Utah and Nevada and holds the MAI and SRA designations from the Appraisal Institute and is an MNAA with the National Association of Appraisers. He started in the profession in 2002 and is still actively appraising residential and commercial properties. In addition to appraising, Jeff has been an active participant in real estate development, acquisition and disposition. He was appointed by the governor to sit on the Utah Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board in 2016 and has chaired the board since 2019. He is also currently serving on the NAA board of directors.
Jeff joined Accurity in 2015 initially and has more recently joined the executive team as the Chief Knowledge Officer, CKO, for Accurity Consolidated. In this role he has helped develop and implement recruiting and training of appraisers and appraiser trainees in various markets across the country. Over his career, Jeff has personally participated in the training of 8 different appraisers.
Barry Phillips, MNAA, Phillips Appraisal
Barry Phillips is a Certified Residential Appraiser from Greenville, SC. Barry founded Phillips Appraisal in 2003 and provides residential valuation services to 6 counties in upstate South Carolina.
He has 22 years of experience as an appraiser, mentor, supervisor, and leader. He holds the Home Measurement Specialist (HMS) designation. Barry has served on the South Carolina Professional Appraisers Coalition (SCPAC) for 6 years and served as president in 2021. He is also the past president of the Upstate Chapter of SCPAC.
Barry has specialized in appraising for VA for over 10 years and FHA for over 15 years. He also specializes in technology and mobile appraising and teaches webinars to appraisers throughout his state.
He is a decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran, who served in Desert Storm. While enlisted in the military, he also attended Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Quantico, VA. He studied Civil Engineering at Clemson before transferring and obtaining a degree in Electronic Engineering.
He is the host of the Clubhouse (social media) Real Estate Appraisal Trainee Talk session every Monday at 4pm ET and often co-hosts on Tuesdays with Tim show at 4pm ET.
Barry has a deep passion for helping others get into the Real Estate Appraisal industry and passing on his years of knowledge and experience to the next generation of appraisers.
Barry was elected to the NAA Board of Directors for a 3-year term in 2022 and is the current Vice President of NAA.
Cathy Putegnat, MNAA, Homestead Appraisals, Inc.
Cathy Putegnat, owner Homestead Appraisals, Inc, has been an independent residential real estate appraiser since 2001 with her beginnings as an appraiser in Colorado. After spending 5 years in Colorado, Cathy and her family left the mainland and spent the next 12 years living, breathing, and working on the beautiful islands of Hawaii. During that time, Cathy was the owner and operator of Homestead Appraisals as well as chief consultant for Appraiser Aide, a data entry company for Appraisers across the country. Cathy also took up skydiving while living in Hawaii. Cathy started her involvement with the National Association of Appraisers while visiting one of the Appraisal Summit conferences many years ago. She has served on several committees as well as has been Treasurer for the NAA for the last several years. In 2018 Cathy and her husband of almost 35 years, moved from Hawaii to Oregon to begin a new chapter of their lives as in-laws and grandparents. Cathy continues to own and operate Homestead Appraisals and enjoys spending time as Nana when time permits.
Bryan Reynolds, MNAA, Appraiser eLearning
Bryan S. Reynolds, MNAA, CDEI is a certified appraiser with thirty years of experience in real property appraising and mortgage banking. He is an investigator, author, instructor, and nationally featured speaker in the appraisal field. He is certified as an AQB USPAP Instructor, Registered Agent with the TN State Board of Equalization and FHA Fee Appraiser. Bryan is also recognized as an expert witness qualified by various courts. His articles have been published in the Appraisal Buzz, Working Real Estate Magazine, and USA Lawyer Guide. He has also published several books including Fannie Mae CU & You, Navigating FHA, and Appraiser’s Guide to Covering Your Assets. Bryan is a contributing author to REO Appraising and Appraising in a Depressed Market. Bryan owns Reynolds and Associates, Reynolds Appraisal Service, Fine Point Valuations, and he is a founding partner in Appraiser e-Learning. Stephanie Streep, MNAA
Stephanie Streep-Tuley is the Managing Partner of a local real estate appraisal firm with 3 residential appraisers. She is a Certified Residential Appraiser. She has been appraising residential real estate in the San Antonio market area since 2010 and has had 5 trainees throughout the years.
She is on the FHA and VA Panel and hosts a room in Clubhouse’s Real Estate AppraisalTalk twice a month. Stephanie has been a member of the ATA since 2014 and received her designation in 2021. She became a board member in 2023 and volunteers on the program committee.
She is passionate about the appraisal community, is an active member of NAA, and regularly attends National Conferences as a vocal appraiser advocate. She volunteers on the George R Harrison Scholarship Fund committee, program committee, and is the Co-chair of the Trainee committee.
Pamela Teel, MNAA
Pamela Teel, ATA-G, MNAA, is a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in the State of Texas, an AQB Certified USPAP Instructor, an IDECC Certified Distance Educator, and an NAA Certified Appraisal Reviewer. Her current appraisal practice consists of appraisal review, education, mentoring and consulting. Pam previously owned Corpus Christi Appraisal Service in Corpus Christi, Texas, and held a position as staff appraiser for a nation-wide lender where she was responsible for development and delivery of appraisal training. Prior to becoming a real estate appraiser, Pam was the Vice President of Operations for a commercial property management company, managing office buildings, shopping centers, and apartment complexes.
Pam has been appointed by the State of Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board as a Mentor and a past President of the Texas Association of Appraisers. Pam was elected to serve a three-year term on the National Association of Appraisers Board of Directors in 2023 and was appointed as the organization's secretary in 2024.
Joshua Walitt, MNAA, Walitt Solutions
Joshua Walitt, MNAA is the principal consultant for Walitt Solutions. He provides short- and long-term consulting services related to compliance, valuation, education, review, and investigations. Clients include lending institutions, appraisers, appraisal management companies, attorneys, accountants, education providers, regulators, and others.
With over 20 years of experience, Walitt’s skillset includes appraisal, banking, regulations, policy, training, licensing, audit, and enforcement. His core goal is to foster clients’ efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and growth through appropriate methodology and technology, sound reasoning and communication skills, and proper oversight.
He writes for industry publications and speaks at events such as the Appraisal Institute’s Annual Conference, Appraisal Summit, Valuation Expo, Appraiser’s Conference and Trade Show, Association of Appraiser Regulatory Officials, and other client and industry conferences. Walitt designs seminars and continuing education courses for online and classroom delivery.
In 2013, he was the appraiser member of Colorado’s AMC Rulemaking Taskforce. In 2015, Walitt designed the Market Machine, a market analysis and modeling tool used by appraisers throughout the U.S. He has also provided valuation consulting for international applications. Walitt has been recognized as an expert witness in local and federal courts.
Walitt holds the SRA & AI-RRS designations with the Appraisal Institute, is the immediate Past President of the National Association of Appraisers (MNAA), holds a Certified Distance Education Instructor (CDEI) certificate, is an AQB Certified USPAP Instructor, is an Appraisal Institute approved instructor, and served on the Colorado Board of Real Estate Appraisers.
